Mad for Mad Men

With the season premier of Mad Men that aired last night, I have been feeling a little 1960s inspiration that is brimming with sleek style and indulgent design.  The sixties were a time of enormous change, both technologically and socially. Colors were inspired by nature, green, gold, orange and yellow were very popular.  Combinations such as fuchsia and tangerine, and black and white were used often.  Sleek modern furniture filled homes also known as flat pack furniture, "S" and pod shaped chairs made of space age shapes.  Homes were decorated with shag rugs, bold flowers, paisley prints and accessorized with owls, mushrooms, cats and daisies.  The overall look was clean and open.  Here are some 1960 retro decorating ideas to give your home that Mad Men look!
